Martin Luther Campus is getting a trishaw bike -- specifically designed for seniors to ride, while enjoying the wind in their hair. Ole Kassow founded Cycling Without Age in Denmark. Learn more about Ole's touching story and motivation for creating this wonderful piece of equipment below! Our bike arrives in Spring 2020. Martin Luther Campus residents and staff will take our first ride then with a HUGE celebration! More details coming soon! Thank you Minnesota Department of Health and Ebenezer Foundation for the funding to purchase this bike and to create lasting memories for us all!
The blessing of the hands is something Fairview and Ebenezer have done for years. Today, during nurses week, we decided to roll it out on our own campus. No matter a person's faith background, all were welcome to join in a spiritual uplifting and short blessing of our caregivers hands. We thank Chaplain Cobb, all the care staff, and everyone who makes things possible in caring for all the residents of Martin Luther Campus.
If you missed out on the blessing today, we will be doing a second round this Friday at 10:30, 2:00, and 3:00. Hope to see you there! Residents, family, and staff all came out to the Martin Luther Campus Memorial Garden on this beautiful day to do our own heart walk! We had 4 stations (Just like there are 4 chambers of the heart) each talking about a different part of health. We talked about stress management (BP checks), Spiritual Health (Labyrinths), Eating Healthy (Water/healthy snacks), and Exercise (Waterbottles). We are glad so many people got to get out and enjoy the sunshine with us! See you at the big heart walk at Target Field this coming Saturday!
Word continues to spread about the Older Adult Job Fair and we were happy to get to share our story with Fox 9 Anchor Leah Beno. The story covers why Luke Jenkins, Community Relations Director for Martin Luther Campus decided to start this idea, and how it has taken off like wildfire with great response from local businesses as well as many older adults who are excited to attend.
We also got to hear from local job seeker Don Morrison who spent his working years as a lather, and then worked for seven years at Rainbow Foods. You can tell he is a man who knows customer service and any of the 30 businesses that are in attendance this Thursday, April 12th from 10-2 would be lucky to have him on their team!
