October 4th is known as the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, who was a man born into a well to do family and started his life out in a very worldly frame of mind. After an illness, he gave up his worldly mentality and devoted himself to a life of poverty and spiritual growth. He is known as the patron saint of animals and in honor of this, we encouraged staff, residents, and visitors to bring in their animals to get a blessing by our chaplain, David, who graciously has stepped into the role of St. Francis today.
