Celebrating Culinary and Nutritional Services Week 2018!
Resident Birthdays Made Extra Special!
Martin Luther Care Center Culinary and Nutritional Services staff and Chef Rickey Turner make monthly resident birthday luncheons a superb dining experience.
The team’s main goal was to make the resident’s birthday luncheon as special as possible. Together, they came up with the idea to prepare menu items of foods they don’t normally have. Thanks to the efforts and creativity of the culinary team, the menu consists of prime rib, fried rice, an assorted vegetable mix (not normally served on the regular menu) along with rolls and butter and of course, hot coffee and birthday cake!
Residents love the prime rib dinner prepared especially for them in honor of their birthday. They particularly seem to enjoy and feel good about the message the meal conveys, that they are special and so is their special day!
As we celebrate Culinary and Nutritional Services Week, we thank our Culinary and Nutritional Services team for their creativity and hard work in preparing nutritional and appetizing food, not only for special events, but for all the meals that are prepared and well planned each and every day!
We wanted to do something fun for the people who bring so much joy to others on our campus. We so deeply appreciate all the hard work the active living and therapeutic recreation team bring to our residents and the pep they bring to the staff as well! We hope they enjoyed the pizza party and know that our appreciate of them goes well beyond this week!
Today the staff of Martin Luther Campus took time out of their busy days to make bowls for the Empty Bowls Fundraiser we are having February 14th to help fight local hunger in partnership with VEAP. We thank everyone for their time and their creativity. We look forward to seeing all of you in February when we will all enjoy the fruits of our labor!
The Wright Medical Group first came to us in June because they were looking for a place to volunteer and they have been an absolute joy ever since! They came on a monthly basis and one of the volunteers from Wright, Amanda, suggested a gift giving campaign at their office.
They put up a tree in their office with ornaments labeled with specific resident needs and asked staff to choose an ornament to give some gifts for our residents.
The gift exchange happened yesterday and we had so many happy residents! I guess it just takes the Wright kind of people to make some holiday happiness happen this year. Thank you Wright Medical Group!
Marines Thank Martin Luther Campus Residents for over 15 years of support of the Toys for Tots Campaign
It was a great honor to have these two brave Marines come to campus and share with us the mission of the Toys for Tots Campaign. They came to share with us their deep appreciation for our continued, unwavering support of their efforts. After they spoke about Toys for Tots, we were blessed with a very heartfelt poem depicting the loneliness that can occur during this time of year and how important it is to reach out to others to make them feel loved and cared for.
That's what Toys for Tots is all about, that's what Martin Luther Campus is all about, and that's what the spirit of the season is all about. The deadline to donate for Toys for Tots is December 20th at 2PM, but you can Start volunteering at Martin Luther Campus anytime. Happy Holidays!
Check out all the fun we had last week at Meadow Woods Assisted Living. Between the string band, the festive decorations, and the tasty treats, the nearly 200 people that came to our celebration were welcomed back to the annual Home for the Holidays party. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to making this a memorable experience for so many families, friends, and residents. Happy Holidays!
